The 2010 Spice Island Triathlon will take place on May 2nd on the same great course as last year with closed roads in the town of St. George's. We are very excited to be hosting the 2010 OECS Triathlon Championships here in Grenada. In addition to this we are hoping to have an electronic timing system in place from this year. We have a few other exciting changes that we will announce in the next few weeks. Once again this year we have additional events such as a 5k run, bike criterium and an open water swim, the triathlons can all be done as relays so there is a way for everyone to get involved.
The transition area and main race site will be in front the fire station. The swim will take place in the warm and clear waters of St. George’s harbor; this protected area is always calm and should provide a fast swim. The bike will take place along the Carenage, port highway and lagoon road, the course is mainly flat and very fast except for one small hill at the turn around. The run is also along the Carenage and port highway and should prove to be very exciting.
St. George’s is one of the most picturesque towns in the Caribbean and will provide a fun and exciting back drop and is extremely spectator friendly.
